CARNAGE Faction-wide events on a roll

Updates at last! Just what has CARNAGE been up to? Read more to find out!

100M Vis, anyone?

In a sudden streak of generosity, CARNAGE Faction member Cz°Overdose organized an in-game event for everyone in the group last Friday, August 10. Called the Get me, I am Lost! game, the main objective of this contest was to escort Ramiro (Cz°Overdose) from El Tierra Blanco/Katovic Snowfield all the way to the Prison de Joaquin Waypoint. No other character except the Scout was allowed to escort Ramiro to the said point in the map.

The game mechanics also explicitly stressed a no-warp policy in moving to and fro maps. PK between players were not allowed, although PKing Ramiro was consented in order to make the game more fun and to provide an opportunity for steals.

Looking at the difficulty of such activity, (considering the fact that the maps called for high level monsters against a level 16 RNPC Ramiro), what's in it for those who joined? Millions of Vis, of course!

The contest was divided in 3 rounds in order to give everyone a fighting chance at the big prizes. And so, everyone converged at the Prison de Joaquin Waypoint Channel 3 to talk about concerns or questions about the event mechanics. Quite a handful of scouts dressed in various suit of costumes more or less determined the levels they were in. It was only a matter of time before Cz°Overdose announced the start of the game, and upon doing so, warped immediately to the Katovic Snowfield to await the rescuers.

Since warping was prohibited, everyone took a long walk to the said area, dodging monsters and downing pots along the way. With the lag kicking in, it soon turned out to be an excruciatingly slow walk. Nevertheless, the first people who were quick on their feet soon arrived.

Dodging Arctic monsters in Katovic Snowfield.

Seighart and Veracruz were one of the firsts to arrive, thus they were the ones who had to deal with the first hand onslaught of the Arctic Bear and wolves. Those who were quick to revive Ramiro were soon knocked off by the approaching mobs.

For a while it seemed that the flurry of those being revived and those who died seemed endless, but Estradz and Seighart finally got the hang of it. They took turns resurrecting the others, all while effectively luring the mobs away from Ramiro. Everyone seemed to have gotten the trick to it and were soon working in sync.

The chase goes on...

Overseer turned out to be the lucky winner of the first round, after being the one to revive Ramiro inches before the finish line was crossed. He won for himself 100 million Vis for this uncanny stroke of luck.

And of course being the Faction Leader he did gave out a few of his earnings to those who badgered for tips. Hehe.

The second round took quite some time to finish, with less people joining in for another turn. But the experience from the first round strengthened everyone's resolve to stick together and put teamwork to practice in seeing through the difficult ordeal.

By the time the third and final round commenced, it was uncertain if some of the guys wanted to continue given the fact that the wait at Katovic Snowfield was quite long. However, a few enterprising CARNAGE members persisted to go through with the difficult task.

We have a winner!

The contest itself was not about the millions of Vis at stake, but rather, this became a test on how CARNAGE members thought of ways to go around a challenge, work together and accomplish a certain task using both wit and skill.

Here are the list of winners for the competition:

1st - Overseer (100 million Vis)
2nd - DevilZz (50 million Vis)
3rd - Yoyi (20 million Vis)

Special prizes:

Estradz
Pharina
wildarms

*Cz°Overdose attests that he did not employ the use of bots to come up with this extraordinary amount of Vis; this was accomplished through months of legitimate Vis farming.

Colony Wars (8/12/07): The quick and the dead

As last week's Colony Wars proved to be a successful and noteworthy event for everyone in CARNAGE, last Sunday's war was not an exception. With the expected comeback of the Yakisoba Faction in the war zone, 50 or so families grew anxious and excited at the same time in the impending defense of the 6 CARNAGE Colonies.

Minutes before the start of the official war, Overseer has instructed all squad leaders regarding save points and preliminary tactics. Some of the squad members noted the presence of several Factions in the surrounds of the Colonies, prompting Overseer to tell everyone to check the perimeters for any signs of hostilities.

At the start of the war, the Colony in Rion Praire was the first to be attacked by Yakisoba. Soon, the Colonies in El Canon de Diabolica and King's Garden were under siege as well from Yakisoba-allied factions.

The fight in King's Garden, for one, was a long and arduous. Norgard's forces overwhelmed the entire Colony, with most of the CARNAGE members dying by the score. The Colony's resistance was also giving away, prompting an announcement by Seighart to pull out in Diabolica to help reinforce the King's Garden Colony. It was at this time when both areas were under heavy attack from opposing Factions.

The arrival of the CARNAGE contingent troops and the decimation of the Norgard forces safeguarded the said Colony. But as fate would have it, Yakisoba once again focused their attention on Rion, raining the Colony with attacks from Valkyries and Golden Spiders.

When the rescue teams arrived, everyone was alerted of the attacks on King's Garden. It was then that everyone concluded that this was a cleverly-thought of strategy by Yakisoba and its allies.

Dominion lends a helping hand.

But then again, CARNAGE's friends from Dominion lent their support in Rion as both teams ploughed through the Yakisoba ranks, thus reclaiming the Colony.

This seemingly endless game of attack-reclaim-attack lasted all throughout the 2-hour war. Squads responded quickly to their leaders' summons, while CARNAGE allies and friends helped in fortifying both offensive and defensive ranks from 7 Factions waging war against us. Even until the last minutes, these opposing groups continued to attack our Colonies, albeit futile.

The end of the war saw the loss of the Rion Praire Colony, but we nonetheless successfully defended all strongholds, and we wouldn't have come this far without our friends (you know who you are!).

The CARNAGE mark on the New World map.

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Colony Wars event! Kudos to CARNAGE for a battle well fought!

See you in the New World!
